With new content weekly, Somebodyisfromhere.com takes a look at travel albeit from the perspective of somebody who
probably watched  a little too much TV as a kid (or yesterday). The site doubles as a venue in which you can share
stories or pictures from your vacations because, let's face it, your friends are sick of hearing about it.
So, You Think You're of Going to Oktoberfest?
Part II:  Get Von Trapped in Salzburg!
<<< So, too much debauchery in Munich? Want to do
something respectful?
Salzburg is just about an hour and a
half train ride away from Munich and there is something for
everybody.

Salzburg is gorgeous from the moment the plane lands. Even
the airport enjoys a view of mountains.

Once inside the city, Salzburg is all things to all people. It has
museums, history, views, dining, shopping, and nightlife. As if
kissing Sombodyisfromhere.com's ass, it even has built-in pop
culture references.

The
American Film Institute's 40th best film of all time, The
Sound of Music was shot here.

Still, the movie takes a backseat in fame to a real figure.
Evidently, some dude named
Mozart was born here.
To Somebodyisfromhere.com, the most memorable artistic contribution is the
Pieta.
The haunting sculpture is by a woman named Anna Chromy. According to
her
website, "It was a special wish of the archbishop of Salzburg to install 'Pieta' of
Anna Chromy in the southern arches of the cathedral, so that he could admire it
from the windows of his residence." Not only is it cool to look at but it also serves
as an example of the hint of creepiness in European religion.

Above the
Pieta sits the Hohensalzburg Fortress. Admission is 10 euros and
provides not only an interesting destination in it's own right, but one of the best
views in Europe.

In town, there are plenty of shopping options. Chief among them is the
Getreidegasse. This distinctly European offering has any kind of shop you might
want and is peppered with tight walkways and courtyards.
Seeing the sights in Salzberg takes a lot of time and you'll need to replentish your energy with something Austrian to eat. For that,
you can go to Wurstlkonigin (Hot Dog Queen) or Ferdinand Hanusch Platz.

Maybe once finished, you will have finally recovered from your antics in Munich. Maybe you'll be ready to have another drink.
There are plenty of options to that end.

There are Irish bars like the Shamrock or O'Malley's. There is an American bar named the Roses. The Mexicans even represent
with Pepe Gonzales.

Certainly there are local bars as well. Some are small while others are clubby. Most offer fun and are alive - - alive with the sound
of music.
