Burlington feels unencumbered. On one side of the street is The Crow, a used book store, with hardwood floors and enough new material to keep
you interested. On the other side of the street? Well, there's a Border's. On one side of the street is the locally owned clothes shop called Life is
Good. On the other side is an Urban Outfitters.
All of these venues sit on Church Street(Pictured above). Seen early enough in the day it's unplowed and without cars. Truth is, it's always without
cars. It's an open air mall with fountains, lined with trees, and a bit reminiscent of Dublin's Grafton Street.
Burlington, Church Street and beyond, is littered with restaurants and bar's. Nectar's, with live music, is where Phish got started. What Ales You is a
basement bar where young folk can get P.B.R. when they don't feel like paying for the local Magic Hat. Church Street Tavern is where you can watch
the game. Leunig's, playing French music, promises, and delivers, "The Panache of Paris, and the value of Vermont." Ri Ra is the chain.
There are more places to drink, but Somebodyisfromhere.com would rather talk breakfast. The Magnolia bistro is also in a basement but
considerably more lit up than What Ales You and has takes on your breakfast favorites such lime waffles and pumpkin bread French toast. The
Skinny Pancake escapes the center of town and is perched right off Lake Champlain.
Burlington, with the laid back atmosphere of a New England college town, is the home of the University of Vermont and Champlain College.
While most agree that Burlington is the perfect place to stay, nobody actually does, at least, not if you believe the numbers. Burlington, twice as big
as the state's second largest city, only has about 40,000 people. The capital of Montpelier is a fourth the size.
Somebodyisfromhere.com expected Vermont to be freezing when he arrived in February. Instead, he found less snow than New Jersey. However,
lovers of the cold could find Stowe in just a short drive where an employee said, "It snows here every day." If that doesn't scratch your cold itch then
you can go on the Ben & Jerry's tour.

<<< Like North Face, craft beers seem like a good idea until you see it
everywhere. Such is Vermont.
Vermont, specifically Burlington, is one of those places in which you can
picture a middle aged lady saying, "Oh," delighted pause, "I could just stay
here."
In Burlington's case it would almost be easy. Sitting at the bar at American
Flatbread, a popular pizza place and brewery, Somebodyisfromhere.com was
wearing a Phillies hat when some guy walked up to him and told him about a
club he started where a bunch of locals meet up at a bar on Sundays to watch
Eagles games. Frankly, that's all it takes.
