A Flurry of Activity in New York.
<<< Often you can tell a good couple just by looking at them. With
outsider's eyes, your eyes, you see the small details. You see how they
smile. To them, it might not be so easy. They know the fights. They know
how long she takes to get ready. But outsiders see the truth.

So that's how Somebodyisfromhere.com sees
New York. As the
outsider. He visited the city on weekend after 9-11. He saw the cops. The
flags. The feeling of pride. That day will always frame his thoughts of the
city.

Somebodyisfromhere.com was prepared to write about his time in the city
this weekend. He'll get to that later, but something else happened.
Something simpler.
Aside from historic acts of terrorism, New Yorkers can be annoying. They're like Terrell Owens. So damned good and not
afraid to tell you about it. The only thing that stands in the way of perfection, is their collective mouths.

On days like today though, New York is pretty damn close to perfection. Because, on Saturday, it flurried in the city.

Somebodyisfromhere.com was just walking to Penn Station. It wasn't one of those stereotypical New York flurry moments. You
know, it wasn't
Central Park. It wasn't Rockefeller's ice rink or tree around Christmas.

It was just a street, in January, on a Saturday.

Flurries fit the city though. Cold and hopeful.

Flurries, of course, represent the best of weather. Snow without the dangerous road conditions. Cold without the sting.

New York has seen better days. It's the symbolic center of the economic crash. It houses two evil baseball teams. But none of
this matters. Because It flurried.

Bars, burgers, and Puns: What Somebodyisfromhere.com did in New York this Weekend:

Joshua Tree. 513 Third Avenue.
80's night. $7 beer. Crowded but with space. Saw a video for
this song (I think this is a moment in life of which
Somebodyisfromhere.com will always remember where he was when he first experienced it).

Chorus Karaoke Bar & Room.  25th West 32nd Street
Small bar, but full of character. Karaoke a'plenty. The bar has private rooms so you can embarrass yourself with just your
friends. Somebodyisfromhere.com doesn't sing. Well, except in the car.

Slate.  54 West 21st Street.
Somebodyisfromhere.com's kind of place. Loungey, with that whole dim lights kinda thing. Long bar. Pool tables out the
ying-yang.

Rare.  303 Lexington Avenue.
Puns on a bun. The name of the place is a play on words with how you cook a steak. A cheeseless burger will cost $9. A
Kobe burger goes for $23 (when they aren't out of stock! Zingggg). The regular burger is tall and plump. Delicious.

Third and Long. 523 Third Avenue.
Another pun. The bar is so named because of the street it's on and its proclivity towards sports. Cheaper bar. Crowded.
Somebodyisfromhere.com was once thrown out of the place for getting his flagged friend a beer, but he was too drunk to
realize the problem. A mockumentary of the events:

Somebodyisfromhere.com to bartender: I'll have one beer.
         Friend: I'll have one, too.
Bartender to friend: Not for you, you're flagged.
Somebodyisfromhere.com: I'll have two beers, then.
Bartender: Ok, you all have to leave.

Bar 515.  515 3rd Avenue.
Next to Joshua Tree. Still expensive, but nice place to hang out. Room towards the has a bigger more comfortable
Cheers
style round bar.
With new content weekly, Somebodyisfromhere.com takes a look at travel albeit from the perspective of somebody
who probably watched  a little too much TV as a kid (or yesterday). The site doubles as a venue in which you can share
stories or pictures from your vacations because, let's face it, your friends are sick of hearing about it.
