July 2006--There are plenty of things for the family to do in Las Vegas.

I
nitially after reading that you get the same feeling you get when you type "French
military victories" into Google and pick the "I'm Feeling Lucky" option (
here).

But Is it worth the trip?

The family things to do in Sin City can be broken up into three categories: the
temporary
exhibits, the permanent, and the spontaneous.

It's fitting that one of the more popular temporary options for the family has to do with
the human body - - much like the adult options in the city.  Bring $26 to the Tropicana,
and you can see
Bodies...The Exhibition; an educational display showing the inner
workings of the body. Think
The Silence of the Lambs meets 8th grade science class.

One of the can't miss family options isn't going anywhere any time soon. It's
Bellagio's
water show
. Showing every half hour during the day and every 15 minutes at night
(8pm-midnight), the show is immense and accompanied by epic music worthy of the
show.

Wind permitting (if you sensed bitter resentment, you're correct), you can see the
Sirens of Ti at Treasure Island. The show is full of both pyrotechnics and acrobatics
sure to entertain the children.

There are plenty of other options like the Sirens show. Each hotel has something to
offer most catering to children in some shape or form. However, some of the fun comes
spontaneously. I was in the city a week before July 4th and fireworks broke out. Of
course, fireworks cannot be expected on a daily basis. Tomorrow, though, there will be
something different. In Las Vegas, there is
always something different.

So back to the original question, is a family trip to Las Vegas worth it?  The answer can
only be worded like this: it offers about as much family entertainment imaginable for a
town full of drunks, gamblers, seductive posters, and people on the street trying to get
the casual passerby to their adult establishments.

Disneyworld is nice too.
