<<< Somebodyisfromhere.com likes Radiohead, but he's not one
of THOSE people, y'know one of those people that have seen every
concert and know every detail about the band. It's not like
somebodyisfromhere.com is trying to distance himself from THOSE
people, it's just that he's not capable. You see, he has no rhythm. He
can't sing. He can't retain lyrics. He can't even clap correctly during that
clappy part of the Friends theme song.
Still Radiohead was coming to a venue near him and they are one of
those bands you need to see once. With this in mind
Somebodyisfromhere.com, who usually writes about traveling to meet
new people, instead writes about people -- musicians -- who travel
every few days to play for new people.
Radiohead is one of those rare bands that hits people differently. Their
ever growing repertoire ranges from slow to fast, from catchy singles to
long and meandering (but still good). As such everybody has different
favorite songs (My top five at the moment: Punch up at a Wedding,
Reckoner, Fake Plastic Trees, I Might be Wrong, Climbing up the
Walls). Just don't say Creep, THOSE people hate when you say Creep.
Somebodyisfromhere.com paid just under $40 for lawn seats at The Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden on the Delaware
River. The tour was in promotion in of the new In Rainbows album.
People willing to spend that much on a concert are paying for the music. Good thing too. Although England may have
contributed directors with a good eye (like Hitchcock) to our visual landscape, this particular show's visuals were about as bland
as English food. The stage looked to be decorated in brightly colored wind chimes that changed color to the music. Also, lead
Singer Thom Yorke didn't shave (about the only thing I was certain of about 100 yards away from the stage).
But a boring stage situation, doesn't mean that Radiohead isn't cinematic. Like a good movie, Radiohead, after all, is all about
the climax. The concert as a whole, including two encores, mixed pace not only from song to song, but often during a song
slowly building up or slowing down to let us catch our breath.
It's worth noting, Radiohead isn't without its movie stars either. Guitarist Jonny Greenwood composed the mesmerizing score to
There Will Be Blood. Meanwhile, the band as a whole ha also played pivotal roles in entertainment with
can't-think-about-the-movie-without-thinking-about-their-songs contributions to the soundtracks of Romeo and Juliet (song:
Talk Show Host) and Vanilla Sky (song: I Might Be Wrong). This year's season finale of How I Met Your Mother used the song
Nice Dream to hammer down the emotions of the episode.
Their playlist differs from concert to concert with the only constant being that they play all of the songs from In Rainbows (Which
makes the encore more predictable. What's haven't they played yet?). Aside from the encores, they only briefly interrupted the
music, once only saying "coolbeans" between songs.
If you want to travel to a Radiohead concert better act fast, there are only a few concerts left. They play in Auburn Washington
on the 20th, San Francisco on the 22nd, and have four Southern California dates between the 24th and 28th. In October they
have six shows in Japan.

With new content weekly, Somebodyisfromhere.com takes a look at travel albeit from the perspective of somebody who probably watched a little too much TV as a kid (or yesterday). The site doubles as a venue in which you can share stories or pictures from your vacations because, let's face it, your friends are sick of hearing about it.
